U.S. WARS AGAINST SOUTHEAST ASIA-
"Vietnam War" was NEVER merely the U.S. Invasion of Vietnam
The U.S. Empire captured and recolonized
"French Indo-China," by guaranteeing Independence and Freedom to the
Freedom Fighters of Vietnam, Laos, Tribal, Siam (now Thailand), and Cambodia; if these Indigenous Fighters drove out Vichey French fascists and their partners, the Japanese 1940s invaders. These promises were broken.
The United States' Military Machine's
"Vietnam War" were actually many Invasions and Wars; against Laos, northern Thailand, Cambodia, and, of course, Vietnam.
LAOS
More than One Million Bombs were dropped upon Laos over a 20-year period. Surviving Civilians had to live underground in complex systems of caves and carved more space for underground hospitals, schools, living quarters, and connecting pathways.
CAMBODIA
Cambodia endured regular bombings by the U.S. Air Force for more than a decade, frequent invasions by the U.S. Army, and endless C.I.A. Black Ops; all because the country remained neutral in U.S. Wars against Vietnam, Laos, and northern Thailand.
For example, from 1969 until 1973, the U.S. Air Force killed an estimated 150,000 neutral non-militarized Civilian peasants, farming
eastern Cambodia.
Cambodia's Internationally-respected diplomat and leader, Norodom_Sihanouk,
refused U.S. blackmail and remained stalwart in his commitment to Cambodia's neutrality,
which the United States would not tolerate.
Finally, after destruction of all Cambodian infrastructure and ruination and poisoning of farmlands, forests, and waterways of eastern Cambodia; the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. C.I.A. "displaced" Norodom Sihanouk.
The United States' removal of Cambodia's esteemed leader and demolition of half of Cambodia itself led directly to the slaughter of ONE-THIRD OF CAMBODIA'S EIGHT MILLION CITIZENS by armies of Communist Pol Pot; who stepped into the void created by the C.I.A., assumed dictatorship, and renamed the country Kampuchea.
VIETNAM
Vietnamese Freedom Fighters defeated the Chinese Empire, the French Empire, the Japanese Empire, and the United States Empire. All these Empires considered themselves
invincible.
The Vietnamese, a simple Agrarian society, whose chief armament was bamboo and chief transporters were bicycles, disagreed.

Vietnam finally achieved Independence from July 20, 1954 to November 1, 1955.
However, the United States refused to honor the 1954 Peace Treaty that guaranteed Vietnam's Independence, even though the U.S. previously promised Independence in World War ll, if the Vietnamese defeated Japanese Empire occupiers.
On November 1, 1955, the United States Empire embarked upon its own invasions of southeast Asia, starting with Vietnam.
On April 30, 1975, the United States Empire was defeated by the Vietnamese.
CHINESE EMPIRES
Vietnam defeated four separate Chinese Empires that invaded and militarily occupied the county, starting 111 BC–39 AD (first occupation) and ending 1427 (fourth occupation). The tiny Nation of Vietnam was largely responsible for the overthrow of two Chinese dynasties-Liang Dynasty and Tang Dynasty.
FRENCH, JAPANESE, AND UNITED STATES EMPIRES
The 20th Century's Vietnamese defeats of, consecutively, the French Empire, the Japanese Empire, and the United States Empires, are all, from "conventional" economic and military analyses, "impossible."
Never before had the accumulated powers of the World's major Empires been defeated by an agrarian Culture.
Today, Vietnam is Independent.

Vietnam's "George Washington," Ho Chi Minh was a devout student of American colonists' successful violent Revolution against the World's then-greatest Empire, Great Britain; another "impossible" victory for simple peasants.
